Civil Partnership

Same-sex couples who enter into a civil ceremony have virtually the same legal rights as a married couple. They are in a similar position with regard to tax, state benefits, pensions and inheritances. Children born to either partner are treated as children of the family.

We advise clients contemplating a civil partnership to enter into a pre-nuiptial agreement.

If a civil partnership breaks down, the partners are entitled to apply to the court for similar financial orders as divorcing couples.
